weather.com now charging $20/month for API
The weather channel (weather.com) is moving from being a totally free service to charging $20 per month from January 1st. All sites using the weather widget (including our own) have been upgraded to use Wunderground and WorldWeatherOnline, who both provide up to 500 calls per day free of charge. The cache on the widget will ensure that customers do not hit the limit.
Facebook Landing Page
The new site temporarily lost our Facebook landing page, but all is restored.
New Website Live
Yes, our new site went live today. It’s using WordPress, so expect more updates.
Wordbooker does what is says on the tin
The wordbooker plugin for WordPress works well. If you don’t want to repeat posting from your news or blog to facebook and twitter, install this plugin. It can post to your Facebook page. You can pick the page if you have a number of pages and you can select whether to update status, write to the wall or post a note. There are many options and it is very flexible, but can be a little overwhelming at first. Updating the status is very useful as this can be used to update Twitter at the same time.
Wordbooker Test
I just installed the Wordbooker plugin for Wordpress. It automatically posts to Facebook when you add a Post. I’ll let you know how I get on with it.
Website Update
Our new website is being developed online at gizagoo.co. When it’s finished we will switch over the main site. You will notice that the eyes now follow your mouse around the screen, we are also switching from a html site to a CMS to make updating easier.
